Encyclopedia and Dictionary Resources
The following list of encyclopedias, dictionaries and other free online reference materials are a great source of information for science fair projects.   For "offline" resources, I would recommend checking out the science section of World Book which has a great selection of CD's, books and encylopedias including one on science fairs.

Columbia Encyclopedia hosted by Bartleby.com
Click Here to visit the Columbia Encyclopedia for help with your free science fair projectsThe Columbia Encyclopedia has everything except pictures!   This free online encyclopedia resource is hosted at several sites, but Bartleby.com seems to be the least obnoxious.  Although the articles are concise, there is plenty of useful material available.

They also have a dictionary and some other reference materials available.

Wikipedia: The Free Encyclopedia
Visit Wikipedia the largest free online encyclopedia for help with your free science fair projectsWikipedia is a free online encyclopedia that virtually anyone is allowed to edit.  It's very easy to find what you are looking for, and more importantly, when you find it, the information about your topic is generally huge!  Check out their science portal which has gobs of material that you can use for your free science fair projects.  You will not regret a visit to this website.

Wikipedia can be a great research tool, but not everything in Wikipedia is complete and accurate.  Although they have an excellent system in place to keep it up-to-date and accurate, because of it's open nature, it is open to vandalism.

That being said, it is an incredibly useful place for finding information.  Although I wouldn't probably cite Wikipedia as a source, the sources listed at the bottom of each article are priceless!
