Electromagnet Science Fair Projects

Electromagnet magnets are a type of magnet whose magnetic field is produced by a flow of an electric current. They are generally used as components of other electrical devices, such as various types of MRI machines, motors, speakers, and complex scientific instruments. They range in magnetic strength, in which case they can magnetize small objects, all the way up to extremely heavy iron objects. Which is why using an electromagnet for your science fair project is a cool way to experiment with magnetic fields and electric currents. Here are some various projects you can do that use electromagnets:

- Do Electromagnetic Fields (EMF's) Affect Yeast Growth?

- A test whether or not yeast growth is affected by EMF’s and if it is at what levels and disruptions is most apparent.

- Do electromagnetic fields affect plant growth?

o- Using two plants of the same type, and exposing only one to EMF’s, see which of these plants grows faster or if there is any difference at all.

- How Does Electromagnetic Radiation Affect A Colony of Harvester Ants?

- Harvester ants are a unique species of ants, and exposing them to EMF, could possibly make them do even more unique things than you might expect, document the results and test it out.

Electromagnets are a great tool that can be used to show your interest in electromagnets and at the same time grant a general basis of physics and its principles.
