Hypothesis: More expensive batteries will last longer. Duracell will last the longest.
Primary Materials Used: Wires, Stop Watch, Light Bulbs, Several Different Kinds of Batteries, Battery Holder, Optional: High Speed Motor Fans, Jumper Test Alligator Clips
Details: Click Here to see the complete free science fair project "Battery Power" The student used several different batteries including Duracell, Eveready and regular "Army Batteries" and hooked them up to a light bulb to see how long each would last. He tested two batteries from each brand to get an average. His hypothesis was correct. Simple project and fairly inexpensive.

A better option to drain the battery would be a small motor. Edmund Scientifc has High Speed Motor Fans which would be perfect. This will reduce the amount of time it takes to perform this experiment and it will be easier to see when a motor stops turning rather than when a light bulb goes out!
